Sopio Gverdtsiteli’s Research
Sopio Gverdtsiteli is a physician and fellow at Neuroscience Academy Denmark. After completing her medical studies in Tbilisi, Georgia, she began working in pediatric neurology, focusing on patients with epilepsy and neurodevelopmental disorders.
In 2023, Sopio Gverdtsiteli was selected as one of Neuroscience Academy Denmark’s fellows for a four-year Ph.D. program in neuroscience, which she is conducting at the Epilepsy Hospital, Filadelfia. Sopio Gverdtsiteli’s research focuses on sodium channelopathies expressed in the brain. As part of her Ph.D., she intends to explore genotype-phenotype correlations, similarities, and differences between disorders related to SCN1A, SCN2A, SCN3A, and SCN8A, and investigate how background genetics influence the clinical phenotype of these disorders.
