Hospital Education

We teach 800 students annually

We plan hospital education in collaboration with the student’s home school and parents.

We tailor the hospital education to align with the treatment at the Epilepsy Hospital. Børneskolen contacts the home school to obtain information about teaching materials. This ensures that the student does not fall behind in their education. The hospital education takes place in the patient’s room at the Epilepsy Hospital.

When the student is discharged, Børneskolen writes a report that we send to the home school. In this report, we also provide recommendations for the student’s education at their home school.

School Services during Assessment

We assess 110 patients annually

We collaborate with the Epilepsy Hospital on patient assessments

As a patient, you participate in Børneskolen’s classes. Therefore, it is important to bring your own educational tools and sportswear.

Based on academic tests, we provide tools and recommendations to help manage schoolwork and address the individual challenges caused by epilepsy. The goal is to clarify the challenges posed by epilepsy and provide strategies for coping with everyday life when you return home. The assessment is individually tailored, and staff observations form the basis of a final report. The assessment is carried out in collaboration with neuropsychologists, nurses, and school staff.

Hospital Education

We have peace and space for deeper learning

We create time for in-depth study and quality time with skilled teachers and educators. Both students and parents may have many questions about the school—we have compiled some of them here.

What are the teachers’ qualifications?

In addition to our regular staff, we also have:

  • Neuropsychologists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Speech therapists
  • Doctors

What is the structure of the school day?

The school day begins at 8:30 a.m. The morning consists of three blocks of two lessons each. Between the blocks, there is a 20-minute recess and a 50-minute lunch break, during which students engage in physical activity and play in the schoolyard with various play equipment after eating.

Teachers supervise the recesses, which is an important part of the school’s observation of each student’s social skills.
The lower and middle grades have activities including:

  • Football
  • Basketball
  • Foosball
  • Table tennis
  • Moon-cars

We also have a sports hall and a fitness center.

What subjects do we teach?

Students are taught the mandatory subjects of the public school curriculum based on the recommended hours by the Ministry of Children and Education. We teach using materials from both the student’s home school and Børneskolen.
