STU

Peace to find your path

Specially Organized Youth Education (STU) is a three-year program for young people aged 16-25 with special needs. We will have a residential option available from August 2024.

STU

A safe environment

We pave the way for a meaningful and quality life.

STU is for young people aged 16-25 with epilepsy, brain injury, autism, ADHD, or other neurological challenges. It’s for those who cannot complete a regular youth education. We help you prepare for the future with jobs or other activities.

We have many years of experience with young people with special needs. Filadelfia’s special school has helped many young people move forward in life, and we use that experience at STU.

Our school year typically comprises 840 hours, organized with a combination of academic subjects, practical subjects in Filadelfia’s 10 workshops, and internships with companies.

Young people are at the center of our small and diverse environment. We have extensive experience with young people with special needs from Filadelfia’s special school. We use that experience at STU to identify academic, social, and personal skills—and support you in developing them.

STU

We have peace and space for deep focus

We create time for in-depth learning and quality time during internships with skilled teachers and educators. It’s educational, exciting, and fun to engage in practical subjects. Here is a brief description of the internship opportunities—you can also have internships with companies.

Bicycle workshop

At the bicycle workshop, we handle the most common bicycle repairs for both internal departments at Filadelfia and customers from the local area. The work includes all aspects of bicycle maintenance.

We operate with a positive error culture. We adapt our learning to the individual and develop tools so that most tasks can be mastered.

As a student in the workshop, you will be part of our service team and will handle repairs, maintenance, and customer interactions.

The Creative Workshop

The creative workshop offers you the opportunity to master a craft within the applied arts.

We make products such as bags, pouches, buckets, scarves, hats, trays, and figures. We work with materials like glass and rubber. We crochet, sew, and paint. We label the finished products and sell them in the kiosk.

In the Assembly Workshop, we work for external customers. Our largest partner is a company that manufactures valves for air conditioning systems worldwide.

As a student in the Assembly Workshop, you will be part of our production team. You will gain knowledge of special tools, assembly processes, and quality assurance. You will also have the opportunity to accompany deliveries to the customer, providing you with a broader understanding of the overall production process.

Patient Hotel and Meeting Services

As a student with us, you will provide excellent service to Filadelfia’s patients and customers through meeting activities, room rentals, and the patient hotel. At the hotel, you will learn to prepare rooms, while in meeting services, you will set up for meetings in various departments.

Technical Department

As a student, you will handle tasks related to the maintenance of green areas. You will be part of a team with three experienced staff members. Together with them, you will trim hedges, mow lawns, sort waste, and maintain paths and roads in the area.

Wood Workshop

In the Wood Workshop, we focus on tool knowledge, handling hand tools and machines, and understanding different types of wood and their uses. There is room for creative expression as well as more structured tasks. The items produced are sold in the Workshop Store.

Outdoor Team and Gardening Workshop

The Outdoor Team and Gardening Workshop work in our vegetable garden, greenhouse, and the green areas at Filadelfia—from seed or cutting to large plants or vegetables.

We also handle firewood, building maintenance, and car washing. As a student on the Outdoor Team, you will work alongside employees in protected employment.

Laundry and Central Depot

The laundry employs two staff members. Here, we sort and label clothes. We collaborate with all other departments at Filadelfia, including the drivers who deliver and pick up items. Our Central Depot functions as a warehouse, where we sort and distribute goods to various departments at Filadelfia.

Workshop Store & Hospital Kiosk

If you dream of working in a store, you can try it out as a student in the workshop store and kiosk. Here, you will sell our products to customers and provide excellent service. It requires concentration, attention to detail, and patience.

Prepared for the future

We prioritize structure and routines

We work with four themes throughout the education program:

  • The Included Citizen – We focus on social interaction with others and the use of social media.
  • Life Mastery – We train daily routines such as cooking, shopping, and laundry.
  • Health – We focus on diet, nutrition, and exercise.
  • Citizenship – We work on your role as a digital citizen, your personal finances, politics, and citizen rights.

A school year consists of 840 hours and is organized with a combination of academic subjects and practical subjects/internships in the workshops.

Each student is assigned their own contact person, whom they meet with every morning and afternoon to ensure the day goes as planned.
