Here’s what we think

“Karen has lived at Stormly for many years. As Karen’s family, we feel reassured that she is in good hands. The environment and her daily life work well, and all practical challenges are taken care of.”

Mette Pedersen, relative

“I am happy to live at Stormly because sometimes I have some bad thoughts, and the staff can help me through them. I am just glad to be here. It’s the best place I have lived.”

Sonja Svane Slotte, resident

“I am proud to be employed as a social educator at Stormly because we work together as an interdisciplinary team to address the whole person, thereby creating the best conditions for the residents to experience quality of life and a meaningful existence.”

Frequently Asked Questions

You may have concerns and questions if you have a relative with epilepsy moving into Filadelfia’s 24-hour care services. We have gathered some of them here.

Epileptic seizures

Our staff is trained in epilepsy and knows exactly what to do if a resident has an epileptic seizure. No one is alone; we are always there. This ensures a sense of security, as we can respond quickly if there is an epileptic seizure.

Activities

At Stormly, we organize many communal activities, including entertainment and music. We follow the seasons and the traditions that come with them, such as Carnival, Easter, and Christmas. These create good memories and a sense of community.

Handicrafts, board games, and singing are part of our daily routine – unless we take the minibus to Juelsminde with its harbor, beach, and city life.

Friendships

Friendships and communities are important at Stormly. We create spaces where everyone can participate and engage in activities that foster a sense of community.

In the day program, users from other 24-hour care services also participate, allowing for connections with people from the local area.

Dedicated contact person

All residents are assigned one or more dedicated contact persons. Together with other colleagues, they form a consistent team with strong professional expertise and work interdisciplinarily. The team assists with practical, personal, and social tasks. They also provide educational and nursing support and assistance. There is close collaboration with relatives.

Especially for young people

We are establishing and testing a smaller youth environment for residents aged 18-25 within the three target groups with epilepsy at Stormly in Juelsminde.

These young people are transitioning from their family homes and need to be empowered to use their resources to achieve their desired goals and thus experience positive development. They also need to be supported in achieving an active and independent youth life.

The young residents will be offered an STU education, an external day program, or Stormly’s internal activity and social program, depending on their wishes and needs.

The central focus of a safe, meaningful, and age-appropriate youth environment will be mutual relationships with other young people, daily tasks, and feeling part of a community with other peers with epilepsy.

The youth environment will work on involving the young residents in a committed community where they have a shared interest, which builds self-esteem and confidence. This can include preparing meals together, cleaning together, and participating in joint activities, with a strong emphasis on exercise and recreational activities outside the home.

Two large apartments are being established. The renovation also includes the creation of a kitchen-living room area where the young residents can socialize and cook together.

We expect to open spaces after the summer of 2024. You are welcome to contact area manager Søren Juul.

News about Nørrestrand

Filadelfia is building a new residential facility north of Horsens. Initially, there will be space for 24 residences, which residents can move into starting in 2026. The facility will have a department for young people with epilepsy. This will be a unique offering not currently available for young people with epilepsy who need daily support.

The new facility will replace the current 24-hour and day service at Stormly in Juelsminde. The current residents and staff will move to the new residential facility.
